I was so excited to make this dress. This is one of the new pattern designs that is releasing very soon from Petite Stitchery & Co. If you haven't heard of this name it is because it is a new PDF company comprised of some amazingly talented and experienced designers. This dress, the Maize, designed by Ashley Hermann, features several sleeve options, tunic or dress length, and curved hems as well. Oh just wait until you see all the options the designers and testers have been sewing up! Check out their Facebook group to see more sneak peeks here.
I knew I had to take a trip out to our local Christmas tree farm when I picked out Pinetre Daybreak for the skirt fabric. I just love the backdrop of cypress and pine trees for this dress. I made the bodice with the coordinating solid, Cool Foliage from the AGF denim line and accented the bodice and sleeves with more Heartland fabrics-- Unn Cross Pine and Dropper Moondust.
My son Brady, believe it or not, loves to get in front of the camera just as much as Brenna. So when I saw the Heartland collection and all the designs and colors I knew this would be a great collection that would work for him. He can be picky when it comes to selecting fabrics, but he instantly chose Unn Cross Pine for his project. He prefers knit, so I decided to make him the Harrison Hoodie by Shwin Designs.
He loves his hoodie! He even wore it to school, which is surprising since he only wants to wear Under Armour everyday--lol!
We had to take some pictures together too of course! I just love making coordinating outfits for my two kiddos :)
I can never make just one dress--hehe! Especially now that I have discovered my new love--VOILE! The print selected for the voile in this collection is probably my favorite design in the whole line, Blomma Garden Pastiche. This floral is just stunning, and I knew the perfect pattern that would show it off. I am of course talking about Violette Field Threads' new pattern Odette.
I just can't say enough about how much I love voile. I dream one day that Art Gallery Fabrics will come out with an entire line of voile in solids and will begin carrying multiple prints in each collection. A girl can dream right?!
How fun did our pictures turn out with their coordinating sets! They got so many compliments from all the other visitors that were picking out pumpkins at the farm, and it wasn't hard to get some good poses since they were both so pleased with their outfits!
