When I first heard that Art Gallery Fabrics was going to produce a denim line, I was on my way to the International Quilt Market in Houston, Texas. I was so excited because even though it would not be available for 4 more months I was going to get to see it in person--more importantly I was going to get to feel it! I wanted to "Feel the Difference," and I am not kidding when I say I wanted to pack all the denim samples up and bring them home with me ;)
Before I left, I did manage to score an AGF denim bag from the Art Gallery Fabrics booth. It was made with the solid smooth denim in Cool Foliage. I immediately came home and transformed it into bodices for these two dresses. I love this denim paired with the Dare fabric collection. It's a perfect match!
A week later I received an email about joining the BlogTour for the denim line, and after the shock wore off I immediately said yes and started planning. I was most intrigued by the denim prints. They are the perfect weight and so buttery and soft. After changing my mind a hundred times because it was so hard to pick only one, I chose Painterly Wash.
I then decided to use one of my favorite maxi dress patterns for my project--the Mia by Simple Life Pattern Company. Look at the drape; it's oh so perfect! Even with all that fabric, the dress is still lightweight. That's what I love about all the fabrics from The Denim Studio. There are so many different weights, textures, and prints. Perfect for all types of projects.
I knew I wanted to add the banding option for the Mia dress, so I chose three different colors from the AGF Pure Elements line to see which one was the best match--Solid in Linen White, Solid in Icy Mint, and Solid in Sweet Mint. As it turns out, they all matched perfectly so I decided to create an ombré look using all of them. I wish you could see this dress in person because the pictures don't do the ombré effect justice. Check out the back of the Mia pattern. LOVE the open detail on the back.
The release date for this fabric line isn't until next month, so who would like to get your hands on some NOW!? I am doing a giveaway so TWO of my readers can get their hands on some of this amazing Painterly Wash denim before anyone can buy it. When I requested my fabric from AGF I forgot to take into account that the fabric is so wide (extra bonus), so I had two large pieces left over--2 fat quarters (they are actually wider than a fat quarter, about 24"). All you have to do is leave a comment here and I will select 2 people using random.org. If you would like an extra entry you can go to my Instagram page (@becauseofbrenna) and tag a friend on my latest denim dress picture. Good Luck!!
Don't forget to stop by the other blogs and see what projects they have up their sleeves!
