I am always so thrilled to be selected to join a blog tour for such an amazing fabric company like Art Gallery Fabrics. I am eager to see each new line and AvantGarde was no exception. When the line was first previewed I was so struck by the colors. I couldn't wait to see them in person. I wasn't disappointed when my package arrived--the colors are even more vibrant in person.
The fabric that jumped out to me first was Steps Above Moonbow. I knew I wanted to use that fabric to make a top. I choose the Ayda pattern by Simple Life Pattern Company. I have made many Ayda dresses, but I surprisingly had not made the peplum top yet.
When I first saw the knit fabrics I knew I wanted to make a pair of leggings with Chalk on Charcoal to go with my top. I choose Chloe's by Simple Life Pattern Company. That print is fierce! I love the feel of AGF knits. They are by far my favorite to use and Brenna agrees--so buttery soft!
I love how this outfit turned out, and I was so excited that it was put in the Art Gallery Fabrics AvantGarde LookBook too! That however meant that I wanted to make another outfit that would be a surprise for my blog.
You may recognize the inspiration for my second outfit. When I was perusing the LookBook I fell in love with the colorblock dress on page 18--so perfect for this fabric collection. I contacted Art Gallery Fabrics and asked if they wouldn't mind if I did my take on the colorblock idea. Here is what I came up with...
I had some knit left over (Yay! for wide fabric), so first I made a tank top with the Cheyenne's ultimate tshirt pattern by Simple Life Pattern Company. Then I used Penny's pencil skirt to create my colorblock piece using Fluxus in Ochre, Neo-Flies in Profound, and Uninhibited in Fashion. I added the AGF solids Caviar and Snow to finish the look. I used the basic measurements in the pattern and drew out a design that mimicked the AHmazing colorblock inspiration dress. I am so in LOVE with how it turned out! Not so sure I love that Brenna looks 15 in these pictures--lol!
