This year Brenna passed a huge milestone in dance. After years of taking pre-pointe she is finally old enough for her first pair of pointe shoes. I have never seen her smile so much when we were at the store during her fitting!
I wanted to do a photoshoot with her new pointe shoes, so I thought it would be fun to make a top in our favorite nutcracker fabric and pair it with a tutu.
This top (and a coordinating dress) will be available to purchase in my shop on Tuesday, October 30th, so be sure to check back soon!
Brenna liked the top so much she wanted to wear it to school too, so we decided to show how you could style it for everyday wear too.
I like how the top looks like a corset paired with the tutu, but for those chilly temps you definitely need a cardigan or jacket. I found this adorable cardi here. The buttons give it a military look, which pairs perfectly with those nutcrackers.
The legging jeans found here are made by Abercrombie and Fitch. They are definitely her favorite pair.
And the SHOES! Oh my! I was so excited that Joyfolie decided to release another military inspired boot in black. These are going to get a lot of wear this season and next (I always size up on Joyfolie boots so I know they will get a lot of use). Find the boots here.
Now this outfit is ready for school or even a trip to the movies to see The Nutcracker and the Four Realms!

Now that Brenna is in middle school, the days of wearing dresses everyday is gone. However that doesn't mean that I don't get to sew some trendy looks for her. This has been the season for making new fun tops!
(To order this top in size 2T-12 go here.)
This top was made with the Pepper Tween Dress & Top pattern by Violette Field Threads. The fabric is from the Indie Folk collection, by one of my favorite designers, Pat Bravo of Art Gallery Fabrics. These colors are just perfect as we slowly transition to fall in Texas.
To complete the look, we found this adorable floral track jacket from Target. It is lightweight and adds interest to any outfit. You can find the jacket here.
These jeans are Brenna's favorite in her closet. They are a legging jean so they are super stretchy and comfortable too. They have an elastic waist which is a bonus. They are from Abercrombie Kids, and since we were lucky enough to find them 50% off we got several different colors in this same style. Find them here.
Brenna and I actually wear the same size shoes now, so shoe shopping is a lot of fun now since I know we can both wear them! I found these booties on Jane.com. If you have shopped here online you know that items are only available for a little while, but the prices are great! Shipping can take awhile, but these boots were worth it. Check it out and you can see all the cute shoes they have available now.
Hope you enjoyed our Get this Look! Don't forget--if you want to order this peplum top you can find it in my shop!
